dimensionalscreamThough a little young, Skyler is a very courageous and adaptable person who’s able to quickly adapt to new situations, as shown by how quickly and easily he adjusts to becoming a Pokemon. He’s not afraid to jump into the unknown, and rarely backs down from when he needs to stand firm. Smart, but not genius, he does have a bit of a knack for figuring some things out that others don’t…but this is usually tied to his intuition and personal feelings. As such, when he thinks too much on things or simple logic overrides his feeling he'll ignore that feeling, which is usually the mistake since his instincts on a serious situation are almost always accurate. Once he’s made up his mind on something he has the resolution to see it through unless it turns out that it was the wrong thing. Despite this level of determination, he’s not immune to doubts, fears, or second-guessing himself and his choices.
Although he seems a bit on the morose side when lost in thought, which is pretty often, he’s really the opposite. While he's not secretive, he doesn’t like to burden others with his thoughts and thus keeps quiet until he feels the time is right to reveal them...or realizes he forgot to mention something important. Even with no memories, Skyler has a lot of compassion for others, as well as a strong sense of right and wrong. This makes him hesitating to help those in need a rare occurrence, as he tends to want to rush to their aid if he knows they're in trouble. Regardless of his dark and unknown past, Skyler hasn’t become jaded…instead showing a kind and honest nature that is rarely found in the world he was born into and not openly mistrusting others without good reason. He doesn't hold serious grudges and open nature makes him seem a lot younger and more naive than he really is, but his constant cheerfulness generally makes it easy for him to get along with others.
One of his semi-odd habits is to lie awake to think on how things are going for him or on the things he's either learned or doesn't know about himself. But he's also pretty easily able to set those thoughts aside when he needs to sleep.
Abilities
The natural abilities of any Chimchar aside, Mystery Dungeon also incorporates IQ skills which vary between Pokemon. Chimchar and their evolutions fit into the C IQ group, which increases power and accuracy at the cost of defense and evasion, boosts evasion with low health, increases the damage of thrown items and allows them to pierce enemies and walls, and makes it possible to do multiple attacks(not moves) in the same turn: two attacks or an attack following a move...most notably.
The one ability that Skyler has that is unrelated to him having been either a human or now being a Pokemon is the Dimensional Scream. This is an ability that varied in purpose and effect in the different version of Explorers. In the manga it was just somehow knowing where he needed to go and the ability to hear the cries for help from the Time Gear guardians. In the anime it worked the same as the games, but only worked when the protagonist came in contact with his partner. But the relevant version is the game:
If he touches a person or object while in the company of someone he really trusts he may see and or hear a glimpse of an event in the past or future of whatever it was he touched. The only outward indication is a mild dizzy spell that others may not even notice he's having. Touching can be intentional or not, as it's happened when he's been bumped into as well. It's a random ability that he has no control over at all, and may trigger when he's not expecting it to or not trigger when he wants it to. It should be noted that this version of the ability is the most varied, as in the future it only worked in places related to the Time Gears but in the past it could work on anything regardless.
